The Going Places van is a service of the Erie County Department of Senior Services and the Town of Aurora for older adults (age 60+) living in the towns of Aurora and Elma. It is a curb-to-curb van service that is available to seniors who are unable to drive themselves. The van is NOT handicap-accessible. Reservations for health-related trips may be scheduled up to 2 months in advance. We usually can accomodate medical appointments made between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, Tuesday - Friday. The van does not run on Mondays. Non-medical trips may be scheduled one week in advance.
For appointments, call 716-652-8866. The Town of Aurora Parks and Recreation Department will schedule appointments and is open from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
Transportation Contribution Policy: A suggested contribution is $3.00 per one-way trip, or $6.00 per round-trip, per person. Contributions are voluntary. Any amount you wish to give is greatly appreciated and will be used to support and expand the transportation program. All contributions are confidential and no one will be denied service if unable to donate. Because of the demands for senior transportation, travel may be limited to the nearest available facilities. Please limit appointments to the Southtowns area; we are not able to service the city of Buffalo or its Northtowns.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, our Going Places Van will be transporting ONLY healthy individuals to essential or urgent medical appointments (NOT EMERGENCY - CALL 911) or for food or meds. If you are a senior and would like home delivered meals (or know one who would) call 858-8526.
