Wild Weaving
Plein Air Weaving at JP Nicely
Unleash your creativity and explore weave "in the wild" under the guidance of fiber artist and educator Tami Fuller on the grounds of JP Nicely Park. In this 3-hour workshop, enjoy some meditative time outdoors while learning the weaving basics and the best practices that can seque to textiles and more advanced techniques.
Learn how to draw inspiration from nature! This class will cover the basics of weaving and also how to "break with the rules to explore the unusual or orthodox elements of natural weaving. Students are free to forage ahead of time and bring organic materials from nature, or elements that they would like to incorporate into a wall hanging. Gain a beginners weaving knowledge, or stretch your muscles if you already have beginner's knowledge and build on the basics to become a more adventurous weaver.
All supplies are included.
Loom is not required. Use of 12 x 16 Lost Pond Looms student loom and tools set provided for use in class.
Students should bring a dowel or rod of their choice for transport of their finished piece home.

Tami Fuller is a second-generation fiber artist and works as an educator and exhibiting fine fiber artist out of her studio in East Aurora. Her work integrates the traditional foundations of hand-constructed processes with modern technique. Her teaching presents the fiber arts in new, modern contexts that are still strongly rooted in traditional practices, and she teaches across both New York State and nationwide. She offers both private and group instruction. Her work has been published internationally and has received awards from NY Sheep and Wool and the Carnegie Art Center. Her work is held in private collections in the US, Canada, and Australia. She is an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and 2021 Roycroft Emerging Artist.
